ALL CHILDREN ARE PRECIOUS
While we believe that all children are precious and unique, there are children who have experienced traumatic events, such as abuse, neglect, or parental incarceration, and they may not have anyone to fall back on.
The Salvation Army Children and Youth Group serves these at-risk children, providing a family-like and safe environment, shelter, and the necessary support to overcome their difficult experiences and thrive. Our highly dedicated professionals offer specialised psychological therapy and counselling to help them work through their struggles – to heal.
Our hope is for every child who enters The Salvation Army to be like geodes – unveiling their beauty and transcending adversity through healing and transformation.
SUBJECT
GEODES
The beauty of geodes takes center stage. Each piece serves as a testament where art is a conduit of healing and transformation. These remarkable creations embody the journey of restoration and hope for these children. Like the rough exterior of a geode, hidden beauty is revealed when it is cracked open, these young souls can uncover their inherent strength and resilience within.
BASE
MIRRORS
Embark on an artistic journey where every step carries deep significance, starting with the foundation of each artwork. Mirrors, rather than traditional canvas, were carefully chosen as the base for the resin pouring process. This unconventional decision allows the children to witness their own reflection and that of their partners, fostering a sense of unity within different segments of society.
PROCESS
RESIN POURING
Resin pouring art is a therapeutic journey for children facing emotional challenges. Through tactile creativity, they discover relaxation, self-expression, and empowerment. The process becomes a cathartic release, embracing imperfections with freedom.
FORM
DIPTYCHS & TRIPTYCHS
While each artwork possesses its own unique beauty, their harmonious union as diptychs and triptychs creates masterpieces that transcend individuality. The partnership between the children of The Salvation Army and Peace of Art’s KIDSforKIDS™ volunteers symbolises that together, we can create wonders that surpass our wildest dreams.
