After decades of hard work, John, 64 years old, thought he could finally retire and enjoy the fruits of his labour. He moved to Thailand and started a small business with a trusted friend.

On 14 April 2022, a Chinese National was slashed about 40 times by her estranged husband in Singapore. The attack not only left her with serious physical injuries but
also scarred her mentally and emotionally.

“When I was enveloped by hopelessness and despire, they (volunteers from The Salvation Army) were the helping hands, my light in the darkness.”

Love Beyond Sacrifices

In 1935, Commissioner Herbert Lord started The Salvation Army in Singapore. When war broke in Europe, he and his officers began preparing for emergencies, providing food and medical care, taking in the sick and wounded.
